Class of 2005

Ryan Balderian began his 205 career as a photographer and editor during the 05-06 school year- having no clue as to what he was getting himself into. He had no previous experience with broadcast journalism, but through the hours of hard work and late nights in the studio with the rest of the 205 crew, he gradually learned what it takes to make a show great. For his Junior year, he was promoted to Sports Producer, a position he thoroughly enjoyed since it allowed him to utilize his passion for sports and helped him better his writing skills. He was greatly humbled and honored when he was assigned the role of News Director for the 07-08 school year. His favorite memories of 205 are those from STN and winning the excellence award two years in a row.

Reflecting on his three years as a 205 crewmember, Ryan knows that what made the hard work worth the effort was spending time with his fellow teammates who supported, encouraged, assisted, and (most importantly) entertained him through all the successes and struggles. The crew was his life support, and he would not have been able to survive without them. He believes that the team is what makes 205 the great program it is, and without team unity and cooperation, Excellence is impossible.

As he leaves high school and the exciting world that is the 205 studio, Ryan will attend New York University's Stern School of Business to major in Finance and Management. While Ryan does not plan on directly pursuing a career in broadcast journalism, he knows that his experience on Live From 205 has taught him invaluable skills and life lessons that made him into the person he is today. Without the 205 experience he would not have gone through the personal development necessary to pursue his business aspirations.

Ryan would like to thank Mr. Vela for acting as a friend and mentor to him and the 205 crew, the 205 alumni who dedicated themselves to making Live From 205 the number one news show in the country, and to the current and future news crew who continue to strive for Excellence. Ryan hopes that the future members of 205 keep in mind that the show is a service to the school- an honor not to be taken lightly. He is very proud of the program he left behind and knows that its future rests in good hands.
